do you need to upgrade your ipod to 3.0 before jailbreaking or does redsn0w do it for you????
the winrar was the problem. i already had a zip file opener, which winrar fucked with. i took out winrar and tried again and sure enough, the boxed itunes thing came up. then i followed the redsn0w thing. and got it jailbroken (: thanks man.
you need to download winrar then you need to right click the file and then click extract here and it should come out, then continue.

i can’t get the box itunes firmware to show up(the box with music notes on it and it’s all the way on the left in the beginning 3 files that you show on you computer). it saves as a zip file and i dont know what to do from there. mind helping me how to get it? plese and thanks.

What it will do is it will fix the camera hack for iPhone. but if your upgrading the ipod touch to iphone FW then that will enable some different things that you cnt get on the itouch like bluetooth can be used for more things.
what happens if you have 3.0 firmware and upgrade to the 3.0.1 iphone firmware? does it stay at 3.0? or 3.0.1?

the ipsw file that you showed to download.or whatever the spelling is, says it it software 3.0. is it? or is it 3.0.1
First time I did this, I got the same error you showed. I guess It was because I was jailbreaking to 3.0 from 2.2.1. I was able to jailbreak it after I restored using the 3.0 ipsw. For the sake of others, could you add something about upgrading to the video? Thanks much, and it’s working great!!!

What i would do is, make sure you have downloaded the correct software and fw. and if it is right and it still dont work redownload the FW. other then that idk sorry
when i browse for the firmware and try to load it says unable to recognize specified ispw. why?
